Islamic Quotes: Beautiful Story: Hope and Greed

Islamic Quotes: Beautiful Story: Hope and Greed

Beautiful Story: Hope and Greed

Abbasid Caliph Haroon Rashid desired that any one who had seen
the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in his lifetime be brought before him.

After some time a very old woman was brought before
the Caliph Haroon Rashid.
The Caliph Haroon Rashid asked the old woman,
"Did you see Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) yourself?"
She said, "Yes! Oh Sir."
The Caliph Haroon Rashid then asked her if she remembered
any narration from him. She said yes and said,

"When old age comes two things become young,
one is hope (lofty aspirations) and the other is greed."

The Caliph Haroon Rashid thanked her and
gave her one hundred dinars.
The woman thanked the Caliph Haroon Rashid and
she was taken back.

Half the way some thought passed through her mind and
she desired to be brought before the Caliph Haroon Rashid
once more.
When she was shown in, the Caliph Haroon Rashid asked,
"Well, why have you come back?"
She said. "I just came to inquire whether the monies you gave me
were once for all or is it to continue every year?"

The Caliph Haroon Rashid thought.
"How true is the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) word?"
she has hope of life even now and she has greed for money too.
The Caliph Haroon Rashid said,
"Don't worry; you will be paid every year."
She was taken back but on the way she breathed her last.

What is Greed?

Greed is the excess fondness of money and fortune.
It is one of the bad manners that draw to various evils and sins.

Disadvantages of Greed:

Greed enslaves man and causes him grief. The greedy cares only
for collecting fortunes without stopping at any limit.
Whenever he achieves a goal, he works for achieving another and,
so, he becomes the slave of avidity until death strikes him.
He, also, exerts laborious efforts for collecting riches,
but he is the less beneficiary.

He tires for gaining fortunes, but death comes unexpectedly upon him
to deprive him of enjoying that fortune.
The heirs, then, enjoy his fortune very easily.
Furthermore, greed takes to the slips of sinful matters
that produce problematic situations in the world to come.
It also hinders from doing charity.

Amir al- Mumini Imam Ali A.S said:
"Know with certainty that you cannot achieve your desire
and cannot exceed your destined life.
You are on the track of those before you.

Therefore, be humble in seeking and moderate in earning
because often seeking leads to deprivation.

Every seeker of livelihood does not get it,
nor is everyone who is moderate in seeking deprived."

Amir al-Muminin (as):
A greedy man will always find himself in the shackles of humility..

Amir al-Muminin (as):
Greed is the key to trouble and carries man to hardship.
It causes him to commit sin.

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as) said: "
In his love for the world, the greedy is like the silkworm:
the more it wraps in its cocoon, the less it has of escaping from it,
until it dies of grief."

Beautiful Inspiring Story: Dad's Blessings

A young man was getting ready to graduate from college.
For many months he had admired a beautiful sports car
in a dealer's showroom, and knowing his father could well
afford it, he told him that was all he wanted.

As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs
that his father had purchased the car. Finally, on the morning of
his graduation, his father called him into his private study.
His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son,
and told him how much he loved him. He handed his son
a beautifully wrapped gift box. Curious, but some what
disappointed, the young man opened the box and found
a lovely, leather-bound Holy Quran,

with the young man's name embossed in gold. Angry,
he raised his voice to his father and said "With all your money,
you give me a Holy Quran ?" and stormed out of the house,
leaving the Holy Quran.

Many years passed and the young man was very successful in
business. He had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but
realized his father was very old, and thought perhaps he should
go to him. He had not seen him since that graduation day.
Before he could make arrangements, he received a telegram
telling him his father had passed away, and willed all of his
possessions to his son.

He needed to come home immediately and take care of
things. When he arrived at his father's house, sudden sadness
and regret filled his heart. He began to search through his father's
important papers and saw the still new Holy Quran, just as he had left it
years ago. With tears, he opened the Holy Quran and began to turn
the pages. And as he did, a car key dropped from the back of
the Holy Quran.

It had a tag with the dealer's name, the same dealer who had
the sports car he had desired. On the tag was the date of his
graduation, and the words PAID IN FULL.

Lesson from the Inspiring Story:

How many times do we miss God's blessings and answers to
our prayers because they do not arrive exactly as we have expected?

Islamic Quotes: Clever Fisherman and The King

Clever Fisherman and The King

As King Parveez and Queen Shireen were sitting in
their palace one day, a fisherman who was selling
beautiful fish was brought in front of them.

King Parveez decided to buy a fish and gave the
fisherman 4000 dirham for it. The fisherman was
overjoyed. He thanked King Parveez and left.

Queen Shireen turned to her husband in anger and
scolded him for paying so much for a fish.
King Parveez let her have her say but said that
the fish was purchased and that there was nothing
that could be done about it.

However, the Queen Shireen was adamant and
insisted that the fisherman be brought back.

"We will ask the fisherman about the gender of the fish,"
she said. "If he answers that it is female, we will say that
we wanted a male fish and if his response is that it is male,
we will say that we wanted a female fish! Either way,
we will be able to return the fish and have our money back."

So the poor fisherman was called back and was asked
the question. Fortunately, he was clever enough not to
be caught out. Fisherman replied, "This fish is unique in
the sense that it is neutral i.e., it's neither male nor female."

King Parveez was so impressed by the ingenuity of the man
that he ordered a further 4000 dirham to be paid to him.
The fisherman thanked the King Parveez again but as he
was about to leave with the heavy bag of money, one of
the coins fell onto the floor. The fisherman immediately
bent down to look for the coin. Queen Shireen was
already upset that the fisherman had been given 8000 dirham.

"Look how miserly this man is!" the Queen Shireen exclaimed.
"One coin has fallen out of his bag full of money and he
searches for it instead of leaving it for some other poor
servant to find."

The fisherman heard this remark and said, "O Queen,
it is not out of miserliness that I search for the coin but
rather because it had the picture of generous King Parveez
on it. I would not tolerate anyone to cause dishonour to
the King Parveez by treading on the coin."

King Parveez was so flattered with this response that he
immediately called for another 4000 dirham to be given to
the fisherman. When Queen Shireen saw all this, she thought
it was better to hold her tongue and let the fisherman go
with the 12000 dirham before the King decided to increase
the amount again.

Lessons from Life: Speech is an Art. If one knows what,
when and how to talk then such a person will be successful
in life.

Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) has said, "The beauty of man
is in the clarity of his tongue."

Imam Ali bin Abi Talib (as) has said, "Your tongue is
the translator of your intellect."

Imam Ali bin Abi Talib (as) has said, "The most foolish person
is one, who considers himself the wisest!"

Imam Hossein (as) has said, "Wisdom of a human being will
attain the highest level only by following the truth."

Imam Jafar Sadegh (as) has said, "A wise man will not be
bitten twice by the same snake in a hole!"

Imam Jafar Sadegh (as) has said, "The most knowledgeable
person is one who runs away from ignorant people."

Imam Musa Kazem (as) has said, "The sleep of a wise man
is far better than vigilance of a fool during the night."

Imam Musa Kazem (as) has said, "Human being has not
been given anything higher than wisdom and intellect."

In other words, a person's intellect and wisdom is
recognized through his speech.

Inspiring Story-Strength lies in unity

Once upon a time, there was a flock of doves that flew
in search of food led by their king. One day, they had
flown a long distance and were very tired. The dove king
encouraged them to fly a little further. The smallest dove
picked up speed and found some rice scattered beneath
a banyan tree. So all the doves landed and began to eat.

Suddenly a net fell over them and they were all trapped.
They saw a hunter approaching carrying a huge club.
The doves desperately fluttered their wings trying to
get out, but to no avail.

The king had an idea. He advised all the doves to fly up
together carrying the net with them. He said that there
was strength in unity.

Each dove picked up a portion of the net and together
they flew off carrying the net with them. The hunter looked
up in astonishment. He tried to follow them, but they were
flying high over hills and valleys. They flew to a hill near a
city of temples where there lived a mouse who could help them.
He was a faithful friend of the dove king.

When the mouse heard the loud noise of their approach,
he went into hiding. The dove king gently called out to him
and then the mouse was happy to see him. The dove king
explained that they had been caught in a trap and needed
the mouse's help to gnaw at the net with his teeth and
set them free.

The mouse agreed saying that he would set the king free first.
The king insisted that he first free his subjects and the king
last. The mouse understood the king's feelings and compled
with his wishes. He began to cut the net and one by one all
the doves were freed including the dove king.

They all thanked the mouse and flew away together, united
in their strength.

Moral of the Story:
Strength lies in unity and weakness in division.

Islamic Quotes: Inspiring Story: The Path to Paradise

Islamic Quotes: Inspiring Story: The Path to Paradise:

Inspiring Story: The Path to Paradise

Every Friday afternoon, after the Jummah service at the Central Mosque,
the Imam and his eleven year old son would go out into their town and
hand out "Path to Paradise" and other Islamic literature.

This particular and fortunate Friday afternoon, as the time came for
the Imam and his eleven year old son to go to the streets with their
booklets, it was very cold outside, as well as pouring rain.

The boy bundled up in his warmest and driest clothes and said, 'OK, dad,
I am ready!' His 'Al Mualim' dad asked, 'Ready for what?'

'Dad, it's time we gather our tracts together and go out.'
Dad responds, 'Son, it's very cold outside and it's also pouring rain.'

The boy gives his dad a surprised look, asking, 'But Dad, are not people
still going to hell, even though it's raining?' Dad answers, 'Son,
I am not going out in this weather.'

Despondently, the boy asks, 'Dad, can I go? Please?' His father hesitated
for a moment then said, 'Son, you can go. Here are the booklets.
Be careful son.' 'Thanks, Dad!'

And with that, he was off and out into the rain. This eleven year old boy
walked the streets of the town going door to door and handing everybody
he met in the street a pamphlet or a booklet.

After two hours of walking in the rain, he was soaking, bone chilled wet
and down to his very last booklet. He stopped on a corner and looked
for someone to hand a booklet to, but the streets were totally deserted.

Then he turned toward the first home he saw and started up the sidewalk
to the front door and rang the door bell. He rang the bell, but nobody
answered. He rang it again and again, but still no one answered.
He waited but still no answer.

Finally, this eleven year old Dawah (Inviting to the way of submission and
surrender to Allah) expert turned to leave, but something stopped him.
Again, he turned to the door and rang the bell and knocked loudly on
the door with his fist. He waited, something holding him there on the front porch!
He rang again and this time the door slowly opened. Standing in the doorway
was a very sad looking elderly lady. She softly asked, 'What can I do for you, son?'

With radiant eyes and a smile that lit up her world, this little boy said,
"Ma'am, I am sorry if I disturbed you, but I just want to tell you that
'Allah really loves and cares for you' and I came to give you my very last booklet
which will tell you all about God, the real purpose of creation, and
how to achieve His pleasure."

With that, he handed her his last booklet and turned to leave.
She called to him as he departed. 'Thank you, son! And God Bless You!'
Well, the following Friday afternoon after Jummah service the Imam was giving
some lectures. As he concludes the lectures, he asked, 'Does anybody have
questions or want to say anything?'

Slowly, in the back row among the ladies, an elderly voice was heard over
the speaker. As the voice went on, a hint of glorious gaiety and contentment
was plainly evident in it even though she was not to be seen,
"No one in this gathering knows me. I have never been here before.
You see, before last Friday I was not a Muslim. My husband passed
on some time ago, leaving me totally alone in this world. Last Friday,
being a particularly cold and rainy day, it was even more so in my heart that
I came to the end of the line where I no longer had any hope or will to live.

So I took a rope and a chair and ascended the stairway into the attic of my home.
I fastened the rope securely to a rafter in the roof then stood on the chair and
fastened the other end of the rope around my neck. Standing on that chair,
so lonely and brokenhearted I was about to leap off, when suddenly the
loud ringing of my doorbell downstairs startled me. I thought, I will wait a minute
and whoever it is will go away.

I waited and waited, but the ringing doorbell seemed to get louder and
more insistent and then the person ringing also started knocking loudly.
I thought to myself again, 'Who on earth could this be? Nobody ever rings
my bell or comes to see me.' I loosened the rope from my neck and started
for the front door, all the while the bell rang louder and louder.

When I opened the door and looked I could hardly believe my eyes,
for there on my front porch was the most radiant and angelic little boy
I had ever seen in my life. His smile, oh, I could never describe it to you!
The words that came from his mouth caused my heart that had long
been dead to leap to life as he exclaimed with a cherub like voice,
'Ma'am, I just came to tell you that Allah really loves and cares for you!'
Then he gave me this booklet, 'Path to Paradise' that I now hold in my hand.

As the little angel disappeared back out into the cold and rain, I closed my door
and read slowly every word of this book. Then I went up to my attic to get my rope
and chair. I would not be needing them any more.

You see, I am now a happy vicegerent of the One True God. Since the address of
your congregation was stamped on the back of this booklet, I have come here
to personally say Thank You to God's little angel who came just in the nick of time
and by so doing, spared my soul from an eternity in hell.

There was not a dry eye in the mosque. And as shouts of Takbir! Allahu Akbar
(God is the greatest)! rented the air, even among the ladies.

The Imam (dad) descended from the pulpit to the front row where the
little angel was seated. He took his son in his arms and sobbed uncontrollably.
Probably no Jamaat (Assembly) has had a more glorious moment and probably
this universe has never seen a Papa that was more filled with love and
honor for his son, except for one, this very one.

You are the best community evolved for mankind; you enjoin the right conduct
and forbid indecency and you believe in Allah. Noble Qur'an (3:110)

Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching and
argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious. Noble Qur'an (16:125)

Islamic Quotes: What Heaven and Hell are like?

Islamic Quotes: What Heaven and Hell are like?

What Heaven and Hell are like?

An Angel was having a conversation with the Lord
One day and said, "Lord, I would like to know
what Heaven and Hell are like?"

The Lord sent the Angel to two doors. The Angel
opened one of the doors and looked in.
In the middle of the room was a large round table.
In the middle of the table was a large pot of stew
which smelled delicious and made the Angel's mouth water.

The people sitting around the table were thin and sickly.
They appeared to be famished. They were holding spoons
with very long handles that were strapped to their arms
and each found it possible to reach into the pot of stew
and take a spoonful, but because the handle was longer than
their arms, they could not get the spoons back into their mouths.

The Angel shuddered at the sight of their misery and suffering.
The Lord said, "You have seen Hell. Now go to the next door."
The Angel went to the next room and opened the door.
It was exactly the same as the first one. There was
the large round table with the large pot of stew which made
the Angel's mouth water. The people were equipped with
the same long handled spoons, but here the people were
well nourished and plump, laughing and talking.

The Angel said, "I don't understand.""It is simple" said the Lord,
"it requires but one skill. You see, they have learned to share
by feeding each other, while the greedy think only of themselves."

Moral of the story: Its people's attitude that makes our place of work,
a hell or heaven! 'Help and Seek Help' this makes all the difference
to each individual's life and makes our lives hell or heaven.
Success and happiness is all about effective team-work
make it a great place to work.

Islamic Quotes: Real Inspiring Story: Hereafter Life. Dream Interp...

Real Inspiring Story: Hereafter Life. Dream Interpretation

Once a man saw in his dream, that a lion was chasing him.
The man ran to a tree, climbed on to it and sat on a branch.
He looked down and saw that the lion was still there waiting for him.

The man then looked to his side where the branch he was sitting on
was attached to the tree and saw that two rats were circling around
and eating the branch. One rat was black and the other one was white.
The branch would fall on the ground very soon.

The man then looked below again with fear and discovered
that a big black snake had come and settled directly under him.
The snake opened its mouth right under the man so that he will fall into it.
The man then looked up to see if there was anything that he could hold on to.

He saw another branch with a honeycomb. Drops of honey were falling from it.

The man wanted to taste one of the drops. So, he put his tongue out

and tasted one of the fallen drops of honey. The honey was amazing in taste.
So, he wanted to taste another drop. As he did, he got lost into
the sweetness of the honey.

Meanwhile, he forgot about the two rats eating his branch away,
the lion on the ground and the snake that is sitting right under him.

After a while, he woke up from his sleep.
To get the meaning behind this dream, the man went to
a pious scholar of Islam. The Islamic scholar who interpret the dream said,
the lion you saw is your death. It always chases you and goes
wherever you go.

The two rats, one black and one white, are the night and the day.
Black one is the night and the white one is the day. They circle around,
coming one after another, to eat your time as they take you closer to death.

The big black snake with a dark mouth is your grave. It's there,
just waiting for you to fall into it. The honeycomb is this world and
the sweet honey is the luxuries of this world. We like to taste a drop
of the luxuries of this world but it's very sweet. Then we taste another drop
and yet another.

Meanwhile, we get lost into it and we forget about our time,
we forget about our death and we forget about our graves.
This Life is Material, and the Hereafter is Far Better:

Moral of the Story:
According to Islam, this life is very short and full of material things
that can get in the way of our submission to Almighty God.
It's not wrong to have these material possessions as long as we remember
our obligations to Almighty God and thank Him for those things.

We shouldn't get preoccupied with this temporary worldly life
and forget Hereafter.

It is narrated that the Holy Prophet (saw) has said:
"Most intellectual of man is he remembers the death most."

It is narrated that the Holy Prophet (saw) has said:
"One who gains the love and grace of Allah, always end (Ajal)
will be before his eyes and he will be always worried about his death.

But the one who take Satan (Shaitan) as a friend and becomes Bad-Bakht.
Shaitan overpowers him and indulge (Giraftaar) him in long long desires
and them he never remember death."
